As we learned from well-informed circles, the recent reports about a 3.2 GHz fast AMD-Quad-Core-CPU based on the second Phenom generation are correct.
The so called Phenom II X4 955 is announced for Monday, April 20, and therewith in exactly five weeks.

The Phenom II X4 955 will close AMD's lineup at the top and replace the Phenom II X4 940 with 3 GHz per core as the fastest AMD CPU.
Across from the Phenom II X4 940 there is a core frequency increased by 200 MHz and also a Socket AM3 support, as much as a hyper transport frequency raised from 1.8 to 2.0 GHz. L2- and L3 cache will keep unchanged at 4x 512 KiB and 1x 6144 KiB. Also the TDP keeps at 125 watt.
In re performance the Phenom II X4 955 should definitely be able to keep up with the Core 2 Quad Q9450. It could even be enough for the Core 2 Quad Q9550. The Intel CPUs are currently sold at approx. 250 euro.
