About two weeks ago we reported exclusively that the first RV790 and RV740 samples were in circulation and also named their provisional clock frequencies.
In case of the RV790, the successor of the RV770, there were 750 MHz chip frequency at effective 3,600 MHz memory frequency. The memory was 1024 MiB in size and of GDDR5 type.
Meanwhile we sighted another RV790 sample, which still clocks with 750 MHz, but uses the GDDR5 memory with effective 3,900 MHz instead of 3,600.
The 300 MHz higher clock frequency, equivalent to an increase of 75 MHz in real, was installed with the Qimonda memory IDGV1G-05A1F1C-40X again, which comes to work in the HD 4870, too, and is theoretically specified for 4,000 MHz. The volume of the memory was 1024 MiB again.
