On June 2 AMD introduced a powerful Dual-Core processor in 45 nm technique, Athlon II X2 250. Out of former roadmaps we learned that a model with 100 MHz less frequency would follow (in unknown time): The AMD Athlon II X2 245.
This one has appeared in several German shops and is directly available.
Totally there are two shops by now that have the AMD Athlon II X2 245 in stock, which also has 2x 1 MiB L2-cache and, across from the Athlon II X2 250, only uses the cores with 2.0 instead of 3.0 GHz with 100 MHz less.
It is in stocks for 64.95 and 66.50 euro. The well available Athlon II X2 250 starts at 72.72 euro now and is therefore almost 10 euro more. The official price difference can not be determined, because AMD do not have the Athlon II X2 245 in their price list - the Athlon II X2 250 is listed with 87 USD.
In prices, the AMD Athlon II X2 245 seems to compete against Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 and E5400, that are available for 60 and 74 euro. Though in performance it could even compete against the Pentium Dual-Core E5400. We set him one rank before it in the Dual-Core processor charts. The 105 euro Core 2 Duo E7200 is only two ranks better.
First tests are awaited, but will follow in the next weeks right here.
