As the German news site ZDNET reports, AMD will keep away from the Cebit this year, after working down the presence and coming up with smaller and smaller stands. ZDNET refers to the AMD spokesman Stephan Schwolow, which though added immediately that they will be represented by many AMD partners.
Schwolow's further information included that they will not keep away only once, but will also not stay in Hannover to Cebit times in the future. He is quoted with:
"We will concentrate on events with a clear focus in the next time. For example, we are planning to participate at VMWorld Europe, which wil take place in Cannes from 24 to 26 of February." (translation from German original quote)
So they do not give the argument of low casses, against expectations. At least AMD had not only to account for a loss in the ninth quarter in a series, but also dismiss 15 per cent of the personnel within one year, shorten salaries and put all employees in short-time work.
